Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) serve our Parish Community by administering the Body and Blood of Christ.
To apply as EMHC, the candidate must send a letter to the pastor explaining the desire to serve in the parish church or in hospitals, nursing homes or the homebound. Once approved by the pastor, the Bishop and the Office of Worship receive a letter from the pastor confirming that the candidate will be attending a specific training session scheduled by the Diocese. Once the Diocesan training has been completed, an in-house training session is then done at the parish church.
EMHC's receive a monthly schedule from Pat Ricci outlining assignments. Time needed is approximately one hour on weekends or Holy Days of Obligation for those serving in the church. For those bringing Holy Communion to hospitals, nursing homes or the homebound, each visit is approximately a half hour.
The links below are the norms of the Diocese of Rockville Centre and a memo detailing procedures specific to St. Martin of Tours Parish. Please contact Deacon Tom for any questions. We welcome all qualified parishioners to serve at the Table of the Lord.
