Main Responsibility of Catechists and Aides: Volunteers are to encourage children to know, to love and to serve God in accordance with the Magisterial Teachings of the Catholic Church,
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT & REQUIREMENTS MANDATED BY THE DIOCESE OF ROCKVILLE CENTRE
- All volunteers must complete Protecting All God's Children Virtus Course and fill out disclosure and screening forms.
- Complete Catechist Enrichment courses for Basic Certification and Advanced Certification.
PARTICULAR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Arrive 15 minutes before class to set up and greet students
- Pray with and for students
- Prepare weekly lessons using teacher's manual and other available resources
- Motivate children to pray for and serve others in our Parish Community
- Follow the norms to stay with students as they are picked up after class
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Volunteers should attend weekend Mass regularly & Holy Days of Obligation
- A desire to share and grow in your own Catholic faith
- Love of Scripture and the Church
- Learn and utilize a variety of teaching techniques, styles, activities to relate faith to children's lives
- Ability to work with co-teacher or aide and Coordinator
